2. Special Enrollment Period (SEP)

If you delay Medicare because you’re still working and have employer-sponsored health coverage, you can sign up later without penalty during a Special Enrollment Period.


Your SEP lasts for 8 months after your employer coverage ends or after you stop working—whichever comes first.


✅ This is especially important for people who want to avoid the Part B late enrollment penalty.
